Something Different
There are millions (maybe billions!) of recipes on the web and my recipes are not especially unique or original. I adapt some from popular sources like America's Test Kitchen magazines or the defunct Everyday Food. I don't want to add to the noise, but I think I have something to contribute, and that is by finding a better way to share recipes.
Recipes can be followed step by step, keeping track of what ingredients you have used already and what steps are complete. Pictures of each step are shown along the way. I've created this to use myself when I am cooking and I've found it to be much easier than reading a normal recipe.
Cooking Philosophy
I enjoy cooking and have considered it a hobby for almost two decades. I find it fun to challenge myself with complicated recipes and try to make many things from scratch at least one time. However, I have other responsibilities and things I enjoy so I don’t want to spend all day cooking. Some days I don’t want to cook at all. I am always looking for efficiencies and ways to make feeding myself and my picky partner more simple.
I have tried various popular ideas to get food on the table. Meal planning, weekend meal prep, freezer meals, and more. Nothing has been a perfect solution for me, but I do a bit of each of these things to make my cooking easier. Notes on the recipes will indicate which recipes are good candidates for these techniques.
Food Philosophy
I prefer to eat without food rules, and nothing is off-limits. I know that I feel better when I eat more vegetables, and otherwise have a decent balance of carbs, protein, and fat at each meal. My partner prefers to eat a fairly lean diet and finds eating a chore. He is picky and sometimes I feel like I am feeding a kid. We eat dinner together 3-4 nights a week and I have found meals that we both like, and I eat more adventurously the nights I am cooking for myself.
Website
I am a web developer and I have created this website from scratch. I have plans for improvement, but it will all take some time. The way things look will change over time, but I will try to not confuse anyone.
